Ethereum Staking Hits Record 32% Amid Exchange Reserve Collapse

Ethereum's staking ratio has reached an all-time high of 32%, with a significant portion of its supply now locked in validators. This milestone marks a substantial shift in investor behavior, as more ETH is being moved into staking and away from exchange reserves.

The proportion of supply held on exchanges has declined dramatically, dropping to around half its peak level in 2021 from above 33 million ETH to approximately 14.9 million today. Negative netflows have become persistent, indicating that more ETH is leaving exchanges than arriving.

This trend suggests that investors are increasingly opting for longer-term storage over immediate trading or selling, which could potentially lead to higher prices in the market. However, one analyst warns that a price held up by derivatives leverage rather than spot demand can unwind quickly, leaving the market exposed.
