Ethereum Staking Hits Record High Amid Market Decline
Ethereum staking has reached a record high of 41.7 million ETH despite the market price falling to $1,900 in August. This represents about 34.5% of the cryptocurrency's circulating supply and shows that deposits continued to rise during weaker market conditions.
The locked balance remained near 36 million ETH through late 2025 before accelerating between June and August this year. Bitfinex shared a CryptoQuant chart on X, showing the steady increase in staked balances.
Some stakeholders reinvest their gains from proposing blocks and validating transactions, enabling them to benefit from compounding their balances as the value of ETH falls. However, this also reduces their individual yield due to an increasing staking balance.
