Ethereum Staking Proposal Targets Quantum Security Amidst Remittix Expansion
Ethereum developers are working on a major redesign of validator deposits to prepare staking for the quantum-computing era.
The proposal, which aims to support quantum-resistant signing keys, would eventually stop accepting new deposits based on today's BLS cryptography. This is to protect a staking system holding tens of millions of ETH, worth approximately $104 billion in value.
The transition would be gradual, giving existing validators a migration path while future deposits could use stronger keys by default. This allows Ethereum time to protect network security without disrupting the staking economy overnight.
