Ethereum Staking Queue Hits 39-Day Mark
The Ethereum staking queue is currently at 39 days to activation, according to a recent survey. On August 17, 2026, there were 2,229,411 ETH in the deposit queue, spread across 37,498 individual deposits.
This means that anyone staking ether today will wait first, with their capital tied up and not producing any reward until then. The protocol limits how quickly active validators can change to ensure network security, capping the amount of balance that may be newly activated per epoch at 256 ETH.
The waiting time is calculated by dividing the measured 2,229,411 ETH in the queue by the daily throughput of 57,600 ETH. This gives an order of magnitude of approximately 38.7 days, although this figure can shift depending on new deposits and withdrawals.
