Ethereum Streak Broken as Q3 Rally Surpasses Average Returns

Ethereum has ended its first-ever three-quarter losing streak after a strong rally in the third quarter of this year. The asset's price rose nearly 58% so far, following consecutive declines of around 29% in the fourth quarter of 2025, roughly 30% in the first quarter of 2026 and nearly 26% in the second quarter of 2026.

The current advance exceeds the average third-quarter return of 12% and median return of 10%. This quarter's gain also marks Ethereum's longest quarterly losing run on record, with four previous instances where the following quarter was positive and ended the streak.

Tom Lee, chairman of Bitmine Immersion Technologies, predicted in August that Ethereum would break its three-quarter losing streak. He attributed this to strong interest through September and into year-end, driven by institutional allocation and a potential passage of the CLARITY Act.
