Ethereum Struggles at $2,000 as Mixed Scarcity Signals Confound Market
Ethereum (ETH) has been struggling to break above the $2,000 psychological resistance level. This threshold was previously breached in May, but attempts to clear it have been met with selling pressure from investors.
On August 4, the U.S. spot ETF Ethereum flows saw a significant influx of $53.75 million in net inflows, which could potentially help ETH regain its footing above $2,000 if this investor appetite continues.
Developers have proposed EIP-8361, a draft that introduces a mechanism called tapered issuance burn, which would automatically burn a growing share of rewards as the percentage of staked ETH increases. However, this remains an open draft, and the market's reaction is uncertain.
