Ethereum Surges 20.3% in July, But Remains Below Recent Highs
Ethereum [ETH] bounced back strongly in July 2026, closing the month with a gain of 20.3%. This represents its strongest monthly performance over the past year, and marks a significant rebound from June's losses. In that month, ETH fell by 21.8%, but the recovery helped to bring some confidence back to the market after a difficult first half of 2026.
The July gains are notable because they run against the historic trend for Ethereum in this month. Typically, ETH delivers an average return of just 10.7% in July, and the median return is negative. So, the fact that July 2026 performed so well is a positive sign for investors.
The recovery did not completely erase June's losses, however, and Ethereum is still trading below recent highs as it enters August. One factor that may have contributed to ETH's rebound in July is the growing demand for spot ETFs, which has provided support for the cryptocurrency.
