Ethereum Surges 27.8% as Institutional Demand Returns
Ethereum has experienced a significant surge in price over the past week, rising 27.8% to reach $2,507.26 as of Thursday morning.
This marks the sharpest recovery for Ethereum in 2026 and comes after a period of sustained decline following its peak near $4,954 in August 2025.
The price increase has been driven by institutional demand, with US spot ether exchange-traded funds (ETFs) posting eight consecutive sessions of net inflows, adding approximately $192 million on Wednesday alone.
This is a significant development, as ETF inflows produce direct buying pressure in the underlying market, rather than leveraged futures positioning that drove previous rallies.
However, the price has now approached and failed at the $2,500 handle three separate times this week, with the next $50 determining whether this is a breakout or a double top.
