Ethereum Surges 29% as Government Support and Institutional Inflows Fuel Price Spike

Ethereum's price surged by 29% in just one week, reaching $2,472 on August 24. This significant jump was driven by three key catalysts: the US Treasury doubling government debt buybacks, the SEC proposing a crypto capital-raising framework, and progress on the Clarity Act. The surge wiped out $2.77 billion in short positions, fueling a sharp price spike.

Institutional inflows also played a role, with $71 million pouring into Ether ETFs, while the Ethereum Foundation's testnet launch added to the bullish fundamentals. However, the price is now overbought and faces resistance at $2,546 and $2,750. A longer-term target of $3,000 could be reached if positive momentum and regulatory support continue.

A monthly close above $2,400 will confirm the breakout, while a drop below $2,200 risks a pullback. Analysts have been predicting Ethereum's growth, with Fundstrat's Tom Lee predicting it could reach $10,000 within two years due to its increasing role in tokenization.
