Ethereum Surges Amid Institutional Demand and Roadmap Update
Ethereum continues to draw attention from various quarters, including institutional investors and core developers. According to Jiang Zhuoer, mining pool founder, ETH has outpaced Bitcoin in terms of percentage gain this cycle. This relative strength is attributed to significant inflows of $697 million into spot ETH funds last week, compared to $1.92 billion for BTC.
The data from SoSoValue shows that despite Ethereum's smaller market cap at 18.8% of BTC, it has received nearly double the relative ETF inflow share, accounting for 36.4% of Bitcoin's total inflows. This suggests that new capital is flowing into the asset at a faster rate than expected.
Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of Ethereum, recently published an updated roadmap for the network, which prioritizes quantum-resistant security and privacy features. The new roadmap focuses on making transactions harder to trace and includes post-quantum cryptography to ensure the network remains secure against future threats.
Meanwhile, a flaw was discovered in Ledger's app for Ethereum, but it has since been patched, and users who keep their firmware and companion apps updated were not affected. However, Charles Guillemet, Ledger's CTO, pushed back on how the issue was framed, arguing that responsible disclosure norms were not followed.
Large holders are also taking profits from the rally, with one whale selling a portion of their position for an estimated $9.5 million in realized profit. A trader on Aster saw a leveraged long roughly double, up about $219,000.
