Ethereum Tapered Issuance Burn Proposal Sparks Concern Over ETH Staking Economics
Ethereum developers have proposed a new plan to tie validator issuance burns to the share of ETH staked on the network. This proposal, dubbed 'Tapered Issuance Burn,' would progressively offset validator issuance as staking participation increases.
According to the draft, issuance would be fully offset once about 50% of Ethereum's total ETH supply is staked. The plan also includes an 18-month transition period and has not yet been assigned an official Ethereum Improvement Proposal (EIP) number.
Aave founder Stani Kulechov warned that this proposal could weaken the economics of ETH staking, reducing yields to levels no longer considered economically attractive.
