Ethereum Targets Gas-Free Transactions with Frame Transactions Proposal
Ethereum is working on a major transaction redesign aimed at making gas-free transactions possible by 2027, according to a proposal dubbed EIP-8141. The change could simplify payments and reduce one of Ethereum's usability hurdles.
The proposal, called Frame Transactions, separates transaction authorization, fee payment, and execution into programmable components. This structure would allow one account to initiate an action while another account covers the gas.
This design could enable a payments app to sponsor fees while accepting stablecoins from users, which could simplify payments and reduce one of Ethereum's longstanding usability hurdles.
