Ethereum Turns 11: Celebrations and Milestones as the Network Continues to Grow
The Ethereum ecosystem has reached a significant milestone - its 11th birthday. To celebrate, ETH Daily is marking its 1000th episode and inviting readers to participate in various activities.
Ethereum's genesis block was mined on July 30, 2015, launching the world's first smart contract blockchain. Since then, the network has grown exponentially, with over $150 billion in stablecoins, $40 billion in DeFi TVL, and $17 billion in tokenized real-world assets secured.
The Ethereum Foundation is also celebrating by hosting a 24-hour collective art canvas on Networked Art NFT. Participants can draw and mint an 11x11 pixel NFT, which will be combined with everyone's artwork to create a unique piece of Ethereum's history.
Aave has announced plans to deprecate 50 low-adoption asset reserves and wind down lending markets on Sonic, Scroll, zkSync, Metis, Soneium, and Aptos due to high operational costs. Aave co-founder Stani Kulechov emphasized that this decision does not reflect a negative view on these networks.
