Ethereum Unveils Platåberget Testnet Ahead of Glamsterdam Upgrade
Ethereum has opened its Platåberget testnet as an early testing environment for the upcoming Glamsterdam network changes. The testnet, launched on August 17, is designed to run for several months before Glamsterdam moves to longer-lived testnets.
The Ethereum Foundation said that the testnet offers a chance for developers, wallet teams, indexers, validators, and builders to test their software against the expected changes in the upgrade. The foundation scheduled the Glamsterdam fork on Platåberget for August 20.
The announcement specifically warned that tools relying on a hardcoded maximum gas limit will need updating. The proposed gas repricings aim at a roughly 200 million gas floor, and the wider changes affect how software estimates and handles transaction costs.
