A new Ethereum upgrade proposal, EIP-8141, has been published by Vitalik Buterin. The update is set to overhaul how wallets sign, batch, and pay transactions on the network. According to the draft, one transaction can carry up to 64 steps in a fixed order, eliminating the need for multiple transactions. This change aims to simplify the process and reduce fees.

The proposal also introduces changes to seed phrases, allowing users to detach their account from its original key. This means that if a user loses their backup phrase, they will not lose access to their funds. Additionally, wallets can rotate keys or rebuild access through a second device or a trusted contact.

Another significant change is the introduction of paymasters, which allow any app to pay a user's fee on their behalf. This is expected to make it easier for newcomers to participate in transactions without having to purchase Ethereum first.

The update also includes the addition of P256, a cryptographic scheme used in passkeys and phone security chips. This move is seen as an off-ramp towards post-quantum cryptography, aiming to improve the scalability and efficiency of the network.
