Ethereum Upgrade Puts Smart Contracts Under Review
Ethereum's upcoming Glamsterdam upgrade has put existing smart contracts under review. The plan aims to increase base-layer throughput by three times, which could lead to increased state creation and access costs.
The Ethereum Foundation testing found that most contracts will remain unaffected, but those relying on fixed gas assumptions may require changes. Developers can test affected applications on the Platåberget testnet before Glamsterdam reaches the longer-lived testnets and mainnet.
Ethereum's price remained near $2,490 as developers assessed repricing changes tied to state creation and access. The immediate contract risk is narrower than estimated, according to the Foundation's testing.
