Ethereum Validators Get Leaner as Lido Migration Kicks Off $16B Upgrade
Ethereum's validator set is getting leaner and more efficient thanks to Lido's massive $16.5 billion migration of over 8 million coins into its new Curated Module v2 (CMv2) architecture.
This shift is part of the Ethereum Pectra upgrade, which introduced support for larger, consolidated validators instead of thousands of smaller ones. As part of the rollout, Lido plans to move over 260,000 Curated validators onto 0x02 credentials, the validator type designed for compounding rewards under Pectra.
This adds a new layer of collateral-backed accountability that wasn't part of the original Curated Module design. Bitmine, led by Tom Lee, added another 7,500 ETH to its treasury, further reinforcing the narrative that large, well-capitalized players see long-term value in holding Ethereum directly on their balance sheets.
Institutional buying and whale accumulation remain strong, with fresh whale wallets continuing to pull ETH off exchanges. This reduced sell-side pressure is a bullish signal for Ethereum's price in the long term.
