Ethereum Validators May Soon Get More Control Over Staking Rewards

Ethereum is considering a change to its compounding validator rules that would let operators choose when accumulated rewards are swept to their withdrawal address.

The draft proposal, EIP-8148, applies specifically to validators using compounding credentials with the prefix 0x02. Currently, these validators have an effective balance of up to 2,048 ETH, and any excess is automatically swept to the withdrawal address after reaching this threshold.

Under EIP-8148, operators would be able to set their own sweep thresholds between 32 ETH and 2,048 ETH. This means that rewards could reach the withdrawal wallet more frequently, potentially allowing operators to manage their rewards more effectively.
