Ethereum Wallet Count Surpasses 200 Million
The number of Ethereum wallets has surpassed 200 million, according to data from Cointelegraph. This milestone reflects growing user engagement with the Ethereum network, driven by decentralized finance (DeFi), non-fungible tokens (NFTs), and increasing institutional interest.
This figure represents a significant increase from early 2021, when it first crossed 100 million wallets. The latest count includes both active and dormant addresses that hold a non-zero balance of $ETH. However, not every wallet represents a unique individual, some users control multiple addresses, so the metric is used as a proxy for overall network adoption.
The growth in Ethereum's wallet count has been consistent despite periods of market volatility and shifting regulatory landscapes. The transition to proof-of-stake (PoS) in September 2022, known as the Merge, improved energy efficiency and laid the groundwork for future scalability upgrades, which may have encouraged new users to enter the ecosystem.
This milestone is significant because Ethereum serves as the foundation for a large portion of the decentralized application (dApp) ecosystem. A wallet count of 200 million suggests that Ethereum's user base is expanding beyond early adopters into a more mainstream audience.
