Ethereum Whale Continues Aggressive Accumulation of WBTC and ETH
A major Ethereum whale investor has continued their buying spree in July, making large purchases of Wrapped Bitcoin (WBTC) alongside ETH. According to data from Ai Yi, a cryptocurrency exchange analytics platform, this investor withdrew 120 WBTC from an exchange and transferred it to a private wallet, worth approximately $7.8 million at current market prices.
This is not the only significant purchase made by the whale investor in July. Since the beginning of the month, they have accumulated a total of 59,404.19 ETH and 820 WBTC, valued at around $156 million. The average cost per ETH is $1,742, while the average cost per WBTC is approximately $64,329.
The recent price recovery in the cryptocurrency market has generated an unrealized profit of around $8.93 million for this portfolio. On-chain data suggests that large investors transferring assets from exchanges to private wallets often intend to hold them for the long term, which could be seen as a positive development for Ethereum and Bitcoin.
However, experts caution against drawing definitive conclusions about market direction based on the actions of a single whale investor. Large-scale transfers can occur for various reasons, such as portfolio rebalancing or changing custody solutions.
