Ethereum Whale Continues Aggressive Accumulation Strategy with Large WBTC Purchase
A major Ethereum whale has been actively buying up assets throughout July, and recent data reveals that they made another large purchase of Wrapped Bitcoin (WBTC) alongside Ethereum (ETH). The investor withdrew 120 WBTC from a cryptocurrency exchange in the last two hours, worth approximately $7.8 million at current market prices.
This move is seen as a continuation of the whale's aggressive accumulation strategy throughout July, with total purchases reaching $156 million. Since the beginning of July, the investor has purchased 59,404.19 ETH and 820 WBTC, with an average cost of $1,742 for Ethereum and approximately $64,329 for Wrapped Bitcoin.
On-chain data suggests that large investors withdrawing assets from exchanges and transferring them to private wallets is generally associated with a long-term holding tendency. However, experts emphasize that definitive conclusions about the overall market direction should not be drawn based on the movements of a single whale wallet, as large-scale transfers can occur for various reasons.
Despite this, the recent transfer is seen by some market participants as a positive development, indicating institutional or high-net-worth investors are maintaining their confidence in Ethereum and Bitcoin. The portfolio is estimated to have generated approximately $8.93 million in unrealized profit due to the recent price recovery in the cryptocurrency market.
