Ethereum's Down 60%, But Is It Time to Buy?
Ethereum's price has been volatile in recent months, dropping by 60% on a yearly scale to around $1,880. Despite this downturn, many analysts believe that the second-largest cryptocurrency is poised for an upward move.
Michael van de Poppe, a well-known analyst, stated that 'everybody is waiting for that ultimate confirmation, but that never comes.' He emphasized that the ideal time to position oneself in Ethereum is right now, citing previous breakouts that resulted in significant returns.
Van de Poppe also mentioned that ETH's range is getting smaller day by day, suggesting a potential 'volatile move' on the horizon. This could lead to a rally to $3,000 in a matter of days or weeks, he predicted.
Other analysts, including Ali Martinez and Gerla, have also been bullish on Ethereum's prospects. Martinez noted that the drop to $1,580 in June was the launchpad for a potential upcoming rally, setting $3,000 as the target. Gerla, meanwhile, believes that the next move could send ETH to a new all-time high above $10,000.
Several factors suggest that Ethereum may indeed be poised for a substantial ascent. Large investors and 'mega-whales' have accumulated aggressively since mid-2025, while smaller players have been selling, creating a bullish combination. Additionally, the amount of ETH stored on exchanges has continued to hover near a 10-year low, reducing immediate selling pressure.
