Ethereum's Glamsterdam Upgrade Targets Q4 2026 with Gloas and Amsterdam Integration

Ethereum's next upgrade, Glamsterdam, is set to combine two major upgrades, Gloas and Amsterdam. The goal of this integration is to optimize Ethereum's performance by fitting more work into a 12-second slot without overburdening validators.

The Glamsterdam upgrade will target Q4 2026 for release and is being worked on by core developers. The upgrade aims to improve consensus coordination, access tracking, and execution costs through the introduction of ePBS, Block-Level Access Lists, and state repricing.

This development is not without practical constraints. As Ethereum's validator operations and network capacity are affected, it is essential that these changes do not push home operators out. The success of Glamsterdam will depend on the final specifications and implementation of both the consensus and execution changes.
