Ethereum's Golden Cross Formation Raises Hopes for Further Gains
Ethereum's (ETH) recent price surge has led to a significant technical event: the formation of a golden cross. A golden cross occurs when a shorter-term moving average crosses above a longer-term one, indicating that the current trend is stronger than the overall trend. ETH broke out of the $1,900 region and is currently trading at around $2,500, with its short- and medium-term moving averages now curved upward.
The emergence of a golden cross is a bullish signal, but it's essential to note that it's a lagging indicator. This means that a significant portion of the rally may already be over by the time the crossover appears. ETH has gained around $600 from its August consolidation prior to the full development of the crossover.
The RSI (Relative Strength Index) is currently in overbought territory, at about 76, indicating caution. ETH has also failed to move decisively above $2,500-$2,550, establishing the first significant short-term resistance zone following the breakout.
