Ethereum's Institutional Demand Defies Weak Price Action
Ethereum's institutional demand is bucking the trend of its sluggish price performance over the past few weeks. Despite ETH's lackluster price action, institutions have been quietly entering the market.
Big money investors are looking ahead while retail traders hesitate, as evidenced by Ethereum ETF inflows topping $70 million in a recent period when spot Bitcoin ETFs saw net outflows of $84.86 million on July 8, according to SosoValue data.
Ethereum funds recorded solid net inflows of $70.48 million on the same day, extending their positive streak to five consecutive trading days and highlighting a stark contrast in institutional sentiment. Wall Street appears to be favoring Ethereum over Bitcoin, with big money focusing heavily on its expanding role in tokenization and decentralized finance infrastructure.
However, buying pressure remains weak, with retail and whale purchases muted. Whales (10K-100K ETH balances) saw inflows of roughly 100K ETH over the past week, but their balances have remained largely unchanged over the last three weeks. On-chain metrics also show a noticeable lack of buying momentum.
Ethereum's resilience in the face of rising tensions between the United States and Iran is another indicator that panic selling is being exhausted. The price still holds above $1,750, and corporate players are jumping in directly.
