Ethereum's New Roadmap Prioritizes Quantum Security and User Privacy
Ethereum's roadmap has undergone significant changes since its original 2023 plan. Vitalik Buterin, the network's co-founder, explained that while some core goals remain the same, new technologies and priorities have emerged.
The inclusion of quantum security, user privacy, and native rollups as priority areas marks a shift in focus for Ethereum. Buterin stated that security against quantum computers has gained higher priority, with the development of leanSPHINCS-based post-quantum signatures and signature aggregation being evaluated.
User privacy is also now a direct protocol-level priority, with developers working on keyed nonce and recent roots mechanisms, components of FOCIL, lean privacy pools, and structures called 'wormholes'. The aim is to make Ethereum resilient against the risks posed by quantum computers.
