Ethereum's New Upgrade Will Let Users Make Transactions Without Holding ETH
Ethereum is set to introduce Frame Transactions in its upcoming Hegotá upgrade, which will allow users to make transactions without needing to hold ETH in their wallet.
The feature, also known as EIP-8141, has been added to the Ethereum roadmap and is expected to be included in the network's next major upgrade, scheduled for 2027. The upgrade aims to resolve a long-standing issue where users need to hold some ETH to pay gas fees, which can create problems for those who only hold stablecoins.
With Frame Transactions, users will be able to pay fees with stablecoins or delegate them to an app. This means that services like payments apps could cover the user's fee itself, or users can pay the fee in stablecoins and have the service convert them to ETH. The network will still receive payment in ETH.
