Ethereum's Price at a Crossroads as EIP-8288 Remains in Limbo

Ethereum's (ETH) price has been hovering near $2,465 as it faces a crucial support test around $2,438-$2,440. This comes as EIP-8288, a proposal aimed at reducing the cost of quantum-resistant signatures and cryptographic proofs, remains in draft form with no confirmed deployment schedule.

The proposal, which was merged into Ethereum's EIP repository on September 9, proposes recursive STARK aggregation to lower the burden of post-quantum signatures and STARK proofs. Vitalik Buterin and Thomas Coratger have suggested that this design addresses the high data and gas costs associated with these technologies.

The price action suggests that ETH is currently caught between a possible breakout above $2,600 and another support test around $2,438. A break below $2,310 could shift attention towards deeper support near $2,220, while a move through $2,550 and breaking $2,600 could open targets near $2,656 and $2,786.
