Ethereum's Supply Contraction Leaves Price Stable
Ethereum (ETH) is facing pressure from several fronts, but its price remains steady around $1,900. The cryptocurrency's supply has decreased due to coins being taken off exchanges, staking absorbing more supply, and stablecoin liquidity shifting towards Ethereum.
According to CryptoQuant data, the aggregate exchange reserves have dropped to 15.12 million ETH from 16.86 million in January, a decline of around 1.74 million ETH or roughly 10% of the available supply for sale.
Large holder movements are also below recent averages, and staking has climbed above 34% of the circulating supply. Additionally, validator exit queues sit near zero, indicating that holders prefer to keep their coins staked rather than selling them.
Exchange-traded funds (ETFs) have been removing supply as well, with spot ETH funds drawing about $482 million over the four weeks to August 7, and cumulative net inflows sitting near $11.46 billion according to SoSo Value data.
