ETHGas Surges 36% as Ethereum Network Activity Rebounds
The price of ETHGas, which tracks Ethereum gas fees, surged by over 36% after a recent decline. This rebound in activity on the Ethereum network comes as the number of transactions increased, with Etherscan data showing between 3,094 and 6,186 transactions in August.
One driver behind this surge in activity is Ethereum's lending ecosystem, which has quietly risen to 67% of all on-chain borrowing. This dominance by DeFi lending is closely followed by Base Chain, contributing to the rise in Ethereum fees.
Layer 2 solutions like Arbitrum One and Optimism also contributed to the spike in activity in the Ethereum ecosystem. As a result, the price of ETHGas has been following this increase in activity, but how high it can go remains uncertain.
