eToro Acquires TradeZero in Bid for Active Stock Traders
eToro's crypto trades plummeted by 73% in July compared to the same period last year, according to recent data. The average amount invested per trade dropped significantly, from $364 to $182.
The sharp decline in crypto trading activity is reflected in eToro's financial statements, which show a net contribution of $12.5 million for cryptoassets, excluding blockchain rewards and staking contributions. This figure represents the company's gross revenue minus cost of revenue and other expenses.
eToro has announced its intention to acquire TradeZero, a US-focused brokerage that serves active stock traders. The deal is worth up to $231 million in cash and shares, and is expected to close in the first half of 2027, subject to regulatory approvals. TradeZero generated approximately $80 million in revenue over the past 12 months, with an 81% gross margin in the second quarter.
