EU Blacklists 14 Crypto Platforms in Crackdown on Russia Sanctions Evasion
The European Union has intensified its sanctions against Russia by prohibiting dealings with 14 cryptocurrency-related service platforms, targeting entities based in jurisdictions including Georgia, Panama, and the United Arab Emirates.
The EU's new restrictions aim to curb the use of digital assets for sanctions evasion. Among the blacklisted platforms is the A7 Network, a cross-border payments network that issues the A7A5 stablecoin, which has processed approximately $120 billion in transactions.
The move signals a more aggressive regulatory posture from Brussels and creates a heightened compliance burden for cryptocurrency exchanges and service providers to screen clients and transactions against an expanding list of restricted entities.
