The European Commission is reviewing whether to expand the scope of its Markets in Crypto-Assets regulation (MiCA) to include crypto lending and borrowing.

A public consultation was launched in May as part of this review, seeking feedback from market participants on whether these activities should be brought under MiCA's regulatory framework.

The Commission is considering expanding the rulebook based on the feedback it receives, with a final assessment due by June 2027.
