EU Expands Sanctions on Belarus Over Military Support
The European Union has expanded its sanctions against Belarus in response to the country's ongoing involvement in Russia's war against Ukraine. The new restrictions target products that can support military production, including materials for the aerospace industry and equipment used for operating drones.
The EU also banned imports from Belarus that bring revenue to the Belarusian economy, including copper, nickel, lead ores, and precious metals. From August 25, 2026, Belarusian citizens and residents will no longer be able to hold, control, or occupy management positions in any EU company that provides services related to crypto assets.
The restrictions also cover servomotors, which are components used to control the flight surfaces of drones. The EU retains the possibility of authorizing certain equipment and services intended for civilian electronic communications networks to maintain the internet infrastructure available to the population in Belarus.
