EU Imposes Sanctions on 14 Non-EU Crypto Platforms Amid Crackdown
The European Union has imposed new sanctions on 14 non-EU cryptocurrency platforms as part of its broader crackdown on unlicensed crypto activity.
The EU's 21st sanctions package, approved by the Council this week, targets a total of 218 listings across various sectors, including energy, finance, and trade.
On the crypto side, transaction bans have been extended to platforms based in countries such as Georgia, Panama, the UAE, the Marshall Islands, Kyrgyzstan, and Belarus.
The EU's foreign policy chief, Kaja Kallas, linked the move to the bloc's pressure campaign on Russia, stating that the package includes the highest number of listings in four years, affecting over a hundred banks and crypto operators.
