EU Residency by Investment Now Includes Bitcoin-Holding Pathways
For Bitcoin holders seeking EU residency by investment in 2026, six active golden visa programs are available: Portugal, Italy, Greece, Hungary, Latvia, and Malta. However, no EU country accepts Bitcoin directly as a qualifying investment.
Capital must enter through regulated structures, either euros converted from Bitcoin and placed into property, funds, or businesses, or units in a regulated investment fund that itself holds Bitcoin exposure.
Portugal's 500,000 euro fund route is the only pathway offering this second structure, with Bitizenship operating the best-known Bitcoin-aligned Golden Visa fund structure in the market.
