EU Sanctions Block 14 Crypto Platforms from August 23
A new set of EU sanctions will take effect on August 23, 2026, banning individuals and companies within the European Union from conducting business with 14 crypto platforms. The affected platforms include HTX, EXMO, BitPapa, Rapira, and others, which have been accused by the Council of the European Union of contributing to circumventing financial restrictions imposed on Russia.
The transaction ban will prohibit deposits and withdrawals, trading, payments into an account, and making funds or crypto assets available to the listed platforms. This applies to private individuals and companies within the EU, regardless of the platform's place of business.
Binance has already announced that it will prevent transactions with 11 crypto platforms from August 23, including HTX and EXMO. The exchange justified the step with recent regulatory developments, but did not name a specific measure.
