EU Sanctions Controls Trigger Compliance Chaos for Crypto Firms
The European Union's introduction of Russia- and Belarus-related sanctions controls in August is expected to trigger significant compliance checks for authorized crypto service providers.
A recent study by FM Intelligence projects that between 1,569 and 5,409 governance and counterparty reviews will take place across the EU27 as a result of these new regulations.
The majority of authorized firms in the EU27 have at least one permission related to trading, exchange, execution, or order transmission, putting them inside the primary group for screening.
Germany, France, the Netherlands, Malta, and Cyprus account for 57.4% of the total number of authorized crypto service providers, which may concentrate initial remediation requests among these five home-state regulators.
