EU Sanctions: Eight Non-Member Countries Join Belarus Restrictions
The European Union has announced that eight non-EU countries have agreed to join its sanctions against Belarus, imposed due to Minsk's support for Russia's war against Ukraine.
The countries joining the EU's sanctions are Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Norway, and Ukraine. The EU Council adopted these measures on July 23.
The new sanctions expand restrictions on goods and technologies that could enhance Belarus's military capabilities. Additionally, imports of goods providing alternative revenue sources for the country are also restricted.
The measures also include restrictions on Belarus's participation in crypto-asset-related businesses based in the EU. However, exemptions have been made to allow necessary goods and services to support public internet infrastructure to reach the country.
