EU Slaps Russia Sanctions on Justin Sun's HTX Crypto Exchange
The European Union has added HTX, the crypto exchange owned and advised by billionaire Tron founder Justin Sun, to its latest round of Russia sanctions.
The exchange was listed under its operator, Huobi Global SA, on an annex of firms accused of 'significantly frustrating' EU Russia measures. This will trigger a transaction ban from August 23 for people in the EU, but does not freeze HTX's assets or amount to a full designation.
This move follows the UK's May designation of HTX, which the exchange denies warrants sanctions, saying such actions lack supporting evidence.
The EU's 21st sanctions package, adopted Thursday, includes 218 individual listings, with HTX appearing under its operator Huobi Global SA. The bloc accused crypto and financial firms on this annex of 'significantly frustrating' its Russia measures.
