EU Slaps Sanctions on Crypto Exchange HTX Over Alleged Support for Russia
The European Union has added cryptocurrency exchange HTX to its list of sanctioned entities in response to Russia's ongoing war against Ukraine. This move comes on top of previous sanctions imposed by the UK, which also targeted HTX for allegedly supporting Russia's government through financial services and funds facilitated by sanctioned entities.
According to the EU authorities, HTX is among 18 entities providing crypto-assets services or payment services that are significantly frustrating the purpose of the prohibitions against Russia. The sanctions aim to restrict Russia's access to financial resources and prevent it from continuing its military aggression in Ukraine.
HTX has stated that regulatory compliance remains its top priority, and the exchange will continue to monitor and adhere to regulatory frameworks in all jurisdictions.
