EU Slaps Sanctions on Crypto Platform HTX Amid Ongoing Russia Restrictions
The EU has imposed sanctions on HTX, a cryptocurrency trading platform, two months after the UK added several crypto networks to its sanctions list.
This move is part of ongoing efforts by European and global authorities to restrict Russia's access to financial markets as a result of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. The action against HTX comes just over a year after the US imposed sanctions on Tornado Cash, a cryptocurrency mixer.
The UK added several crypto networks, including Tether, BitMEX, and KuCoin, to its sanctions list in May 2026. These platforms were accused of facilitating financial transactions for Russian entities or individuals subject to sanctions.
