EU Strategy Targets €10 Trillion in Deposits, No Mention of Bitcoin
The European Commission has introduced a strategy to channel €10 trillion in EU household savings into productive investment, aiming to redirect up to €8 trillion annually into market-based investments.
About 70% of EU household savings is currently held in deposits, which are safe and easy to access but often earn less than investments in capital-market instruments.
The Commission cites European Central Bank analysis suggesting that if EU households aligned their deposit-to-financial-assets ratio with that of US households, up to €8 trillion could be redirected into market-based investments, representing a flow of around €350 billion annually.
