EU Tightens Noose on Russian Financials with Crypto Sector Sanctions Expansion
The European Union has expanded its sanctions on Russia's financial services and crypto sectors in its 21st package of restrictions against the country. The measures include asset freezes and transaction bans targeting 94 Russian banks and financial institutions, as well as restrictions on additional entities linked to circumventing EU sanctions.
The new package targets not only Russian entities but also non-Russian ones involved in sanctions evasion. This expansion aims to prevent any potential loopholes or workarounds for sanctioned entities.
These measures are part of the ongoing effort by the European Union to pressure Russia over its actions, particularly in Ukraine.
