EURC Stablecoin Launches on Upbit, Brings Euro-Backed Trading to South Korea
Circle's EURC euro-backed stablecoin has launched on South Korea's largest crypto exchange, Upbit. The listing occurred on August 28, 2026. Traders can now use EURC to convert Korean won (KRW) directly into euros without going through the US dollar as an intermediary. This reduces both time and fees.
The EURC stablecoin is fully backed by euro reserves held in regulated European institutions. It also complies with the EU's MiCA regulations, ensuring transparency and security. This move introduces euro-denominated digital assets to a market dominated by dollar-pegged stablecoins.
