Euro Stablecoins Surge to $776M Amid MiCA-Fueled Growth
The European Union's regulatory framework for cryptocurrencies, MiCA, is driving growth in Euro-backed stablecoins. According to a recent report, their combined market capitalization reached a record $776 million in August 2026, up 68.2% from the previous year.
Circle's EURC has emerged as the leading Euro stablecoin, with its circulation surpassing €400 million ($463 million) for the first time in August 2026. The company attributes this growth to increasing use across exchanges, payments, and institutional workflows under the EU's MiCA framework.
Revolut recently launched EURR, a euro-backed stablecoin issued by Stripe-owned Bridge, initially targeting customers in Denmark, Poland, and Portugal. With over 80 million retail customers and 16 million crypto users, Revolut provides a significant distribution channel for this token.
The expansion of Euro stablecoins is attracting major financial and fintech players, with trading activity growing alongside supply. Centralized-exchange trading volume for Euro-denominated stablecoins reached $745 million by Aug. 26, up 12.3% from the comparable period in July 2026.
