Evernorth CEO Sees Future for XRP as Productive On-Chain Asset
Evernorth CEO Asheesh Birla believes companies should rethink their approach to XRP, arguing that it's not just a store of value but an operational asset that can be used to generate yield.
Birla made his comments during an interview at WebX 2026 in Japan, where he explained Evernorth's strategy for actively managing XRP as a productive on-chain asset. He noted that blockchain's value goes beyond just owning assets and that on-chain strategies can make digital assets more productive by creating new ways to generate returns.
Evernorth is focusing on building yield-generating strategies around XRP on the XRP Ledger, which Birla believes will become increasingly important as companies seek ways to generate returns from tokenized real-world assets. He pointed to the growth of the RWA market on XRP Ledger, which has increased 24 times over the past year and now stands at approximately $3.6 billion.
Birla also highlighted the growing role of RLUSD, Ripple's U.S. dollar-backed stablecoin, within the XRP ecosystem. He noted that activity on the XRP Ledger has increased significantly since RLUSD launched, with transactions settled in U.S. dollars and RLUSD growing 12-fold.
