EVM Regulatory Token Standards Diverge into Three Distinct Specifications
Regulatory token standards on EVM have diverged into distinct specifications, each handling issuance, identity compliance, and integration. The three main standards are ERC-1450 for issuance, ERC-3643 for identity compliance, and ERC-7943 for integration.
The differences in regulatory functions lie not in the presence of these functions but in where they are implemented and executed. EVM retains flexibility at the individual asset contract level, while other chains embed functions within a shared token framework or directly into the ledger.
ERC-3643 disperses regulatory functions across multiple contracts, identity registries, and independent compliance modules, allowing for the replacement of individual rules. In contrast, ERC-7943 exposes universal interfaces for interacting with regulated assets in a consistent manner.
