Ex-FBI Agent Pleads Guilty to Stealing $1M in Crypto

A former FBI supervisory agent has pleaded guilty to stealing around $1 million in cryptocurrency from an adversarial country.

Patrick Steven Yaroch, who was on administrative leave at the time of his arrest, used internal FBI systems to access credentials for cryptocurrency wallets linked to the country and then transferred funds to his own accounts.

The unauthorized transfers took place between late 2024 and early 2025, with Yaroch admitting to making 10 transfers totaling an estimated $1 million. Some of the stolen crypto was deposited into Suilend to earn yield.

A court filing states that investigators recovered devices, seed phrases, and a Trezor wallet from Yaroch's Virginia home to access his accounts on Suilend and Kraken. The majority of the stolen funds have been transferred back to government-controlled wallets, with around $925,000 accounted for so far.
