EXC Strengthens Grid Cost Protections Amid Rising Demand
Exelon Corporation (EXC) has secured over $1 billion in customer protections through its expanded Transmission Security Agreements (TSAs). This milestone is part of Exelon's Exelon Promise initiative, which aims to keep electricity affordable by ensuring large new power users cover transmission costs instead of passing them on to households and small businesses.
The agreements require major electricity consumers, including data centers and industrial facilities, to commit financially before connecting to the grid. This approach reduces uncertainty for utilities when planning transmission investments while minimizing financial risks associated with delayed or canceled projects.
Exelon's Transmission Security Agreements address the challenge of allocating transmission-related expenses fairly among growing electricity loads. The company believes this framework supports responsible infrastructure development while maintaining affordable electricity rates for residential customers and small businesses.
